ALEX RUIZ, DIRECTOR

Alex is a South Beach local who brings all of the fun, excitement and flavor of Miami to Salsa dancing and events made for great times with great people. Once you meet Alex and get to know everyone at Salsa Mia; you too will feel at home in the neighborhood.

Since 2005 Alex has been teaching classes and hosting parties and special events for Salsa Mia where students learn how to dance as well as socialize and make new friends through Salsa. Alex has a following of students and friends from all over the world that come to his classes just to dance and have fun whenever they are in town!

Alex teaches and travels for festivals throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. He is always invited because he brings great energy to every party. There are very few people in the world like Alex that have a gift for teaching, tremendous power and style in his dancing, and always a smile for everyone. He teaches people how to dance Miami-Style Salsa that can be used when dancing anywhere with anyone and look natural.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela; Alex moved to Miami in 1994 where he began instructor training while in high school in the first-ever Salsa Music and Dance elective course offered in the United States. He became president of the Salsa Club and began teaching other students and choreographing for school events. In college Alex was a member of the Spanish Arts Club where he taught Salsa and performed in many events for the community.

Since then, Alex has danced his way into the hearts of so many and become one of the most loved and well-known Salsa instructors of all time. Alex loves to dance and he loves to teach. He has a happiness that he brings to everything he does that fills the room and the spirit of those who dance with him. If you get the chance to spend a moment with Alex one day you are one of the lucky ones.
